Episode 4 - Grand MacNish 12 Year Old Scotch

Greetings fellow partakers of all things Whiskey!

Once again we are back at the table, this time investigating the value of the Grand Macnish 12 Year Scotch. The Grand Macnish 12 Year Old blended Scotch is aged in Bourbon and Sherry casks. Best of all, it is priced below competitive 12 year Blended Scotches - and that is exactly the sort of thing the two cheapskates here at The Regular Guy's Guide to Whiskey are looking for!

Jeff and I both liked the Grand Macnish, as you will see in the video below. After doing a little internet research on this baby, we discovered we are not the only ones as it was a Silver Medal Winner at the International Review of Spirits in 2013 and a Silver Medal Winner at the International Spirits Challenge in 2013. So all those taste buds can't be wrong!

Episode 3 - The Legend of Bowmore

This episode we are back with coverage of the Bowmore Legend, a single malt from the Islay region of Scotland.

We chose this bottle in an effort to explore what bargains might be available from Islay.  There are some great, and typically more expensive, smoky and peaty scotches from this famous region.  But what is available to those drinkers like us that don't always want to empty our wallets for a bottle and want to have some fun exploring what's available at the same time?

Episode 2.5 - We Owe You An explanation

Greetings everyone,

Ok, it's been far too long since we last posted an episode of the Regular Guy's Guide to Whiskey!  We'd like to think we have a reasonable excuse though and we hope you forgive us the absence.

Unfortunately, Jeff was in a bit of a mishap where he struck his head.  At first he thought it was just a concussion but then symptoms kept deteriorating and after finding a doctor that actually wanted to do a CAT scan  (what a concept!?) it turns out he had a severe subdural hematoma that left unchecked would have resulted in death.

Needless to say, he went under the knife and they drilled a couple of holes, inserted tubes and the pressure was relieved.  The only thing they didn't do was apply leeches to suck out the "bad blood"!  Anyway, long story short.  We're back and cleared to drink whiskey.  Which we shall now do with renewed earnest and share our insights and limited wisdom with you - we hope it is all better from here!
